Location:
Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island
The Problem
The client previously contracted with another company to perform inspection and cleaning of a 78″ interceptor adjacent to Collier Point Park, but the other contractor claimed there was too much debris in pipeline to perform an inspection. The client believed that debris build-up and structural failure were due to the fact that coal had been stored nearby and a new bridge with piers was built in the same vicinity as the pipe.
Our Solution
Pipe and Plant was able to perform a pre-cleaning inspection with its floating sonar raft and determined the pipeline was actually in service. We followed up this inspection with a thorough cleaning of the interceptor, and then a post-cleaning inspection to ensure optimal results. The pipeline continued to be in full service throughout our contract.
